Trick or Treat (Kind Of)

Ben had a trick-or-treat dry run at the local grocery store this weekend. This was the first time that he consented to putting on his monkey costume and leaving it on.

We've had a busy fall already, and Ben is having a great time. Most of the pics below are from our trip to Hartville to be with my family as my dad had surgery (it went well, thanks).

First trip to Young's

Ben took his first trip to Young's Dairy this weekend, which was one of Mackensie's favorite places to go growing up. As you can see, the goats were a big hit.

Marching Band

Today the high school marching band invited the MOMs kids to their band practice. About 20-30 little ones marched around the track with the band then enjoyed several more songs. Ben loved it. After the songs, we went up at touched the tuba and drums.

Despite my best efforts to introduce him to U2, The Beatles, and the like, Ben has really taken a liking to simple children's music. He constantly asks us to sing songs to him so he can do the motions. Like most things that we try to record, the presence of the camera makes it next to impossible to get him to play along. But this video has a smattering of Ben doing the motions to some of his favorite songs.

Ben loves trucks, so I love trucks. I love that he loves things: dogs, trucks, airplanes, heavy machinery, balls, watering cans, his daddy.

First Haircut

Ben was getting a bit of a mop top, so we decided it was time for his first haircut. It wasn't a drastic cut, but enough of a trim to make him look respectable again. And yes, that is a Flowbee that you see in the video.

Yesterday our neighborhood opened a new walking trail/bridge. Here Ben is touching a snake, crossing the world's most unsafe bridge, and resting on the walk home. It was a big afternoon.

Farm

The Wittmer family visited some of Phil's relatives at an Amish farm on Saturday. Ben had a great day seeing, petting, and poking a wide variety of animals: chickens, goats, kittens, puppies, horses, cows, pigs, and sheep. It was a great day.
